Telehealth Consultations

What is a Telehealth Consult & How Does It Work?

A telehealth consult allows you to speak directly with our clinical team about your injury or recovery from the comfort of your home, workplace, or hotel room.

Format: At this stage, all telehealth consultations are conducted via phone and at the discretion of the treating practitioner.

How It Works: Your clinician will call your nominated mobile or landline number directly. (As our clinic schedule can be unpredictable, we may not call you at the exact appointment time.)

Preparation: Please ensure you are in a quiet area with clear phone reception and your phone is nearby prior to your allocated time slot.

What to Have Ready Before Your Call

  • A quiet, private space where you can speak freely about your medical history and injury details.
  • A reliable mobile or landline connection with adequate reception.
  • Any previous X-ray / scan reports, discharge summaries from an emergency department, or referral letters ready to reference.
  • Photos or digital files of recent imaging if requested by clinic staff prior to the call.

Suitable Conditions for Telehealth

  • Review assessment of minor acute limb sprains, strains, or suspected closed fractures.
  • Reviewing radiology results (X-rays, CT scans, MRIs) and discussing recovery progress.
  • Post-treatment follow-ups (e.g., checking swelling, joint range of motion, or rehab exercise updates).
  • Medical certificates and specialist referral management related to your injury.

Unsuitable Conditions (Require In-Person or Emergency Care)

  • Severe, high-energy trauma or suspected compound (open) fractures where skin is broken.
  • Severe deformities, severe swelling, or compromised blood flow/sensation to fingers or toes.
  • Injuries requiring immediate physical intervention, manual reduction, or new cast/splint application.
  • Non-limb emergencies: Head, neck, back/spine injuries, severe chest pain, or difficulty breathing — call 000 immediately or attend the nearest Hospital Emergency Department.

What Happens if You Need In-Person Care or Scans?

If during your telehealth consult our clinician determines that your injury requires hands-on treatment or further investigation:

In-Person Visits: We will arrange an urgent or prioritised face-to-face appointment at our Gold Coast (Southport) or South Brisbane (Springwood) clinics for physical assessment, custom plastering, or orthopaedic product fitting.

Diagnostic Imaging: We can issue digital radiology referrals for X-rays, CTs, or MRIs directly to your email, or local imaging centre so you can get scanned promptly before your next review.
